The movement starts now — April 1, 2027

NOTIPDAY

The day America stops tipping — and forces restaurants to pay fair wages.

Since April 1, 1991 — 34 years — the federal tipped minimum wage has been frozen at $2.13 per hour. Not a typo. Two dollars and thirteen cents. On April 1, 2027, we change that.

NOBODY WINS WITH TIPPING

Survey after survey shows the same thing: most Americans — on both sides of the counter — would rather do away with tipping entirely.

CONSUMERS ARE FED UP

A 2023 Bankrate survey found that majority of Americans feel tipping has gotten out of control — with tip screens appearing everywhere from coffee shops to self-checkout kiosks. Most consumers feel pressured, confused, and resentful of a system that shifts the burden of paying workers onto them.

The frustration isn't about being cheap — it's about a system that's fundamentally broken. When you're asked to tip before you've even received service, something has gone very wrong.

WORKERS DESERVE BETTER

Many service workers would prefer a stable, predictable wage over tip income. Tips are inconsistent — a slow Tuesday, a bad weather night, or simply a rude table can mean a worker earns close to nothing. Income that varies wildly week to week makes budgeting, renting, and planning a life nearly impossible.

Research also shows tipping is influenced by race, gender, and appearance — not just service quality. That's not fair compensation. That's a lottery.

"The US is virtually the only developed country where tipping is expected as a matter of course. In most of the world, workers are simply paid a fair wage — and restaurants still thrive."

The movement for fair wages is global. America is catching up.
